Power
Efficiency is everything
Overview
The power industry depends on the reliability of key components within its transformers and generators to keep the lights on and vital infrastructure working in cities around the world.
The Fluotemp Fiber optic Temperature sensors are designed for harsh EMI environments in mind, such as that within the power industry. The Fluotemp fiber optic sensors help monitor the temperature of these key components to improve their lifespan and ensure efficient operations.
The Challenge:
Many older power plants may have outdated, less reliable equipment that doesn’t have the same efficiencies and monitoring equipment built in as a newer power plant. This is particularly the case in the developing world. If a generator or transformer, for example, breaks down, a whole city can lose power.
Our solution
We designed our Fluotemp fiber optic temperature sensors to be robust enough to meet the demands of applications found in the power industry, providing accurate, and reliable temperature measurements of critical components that can assist in maximizing the life expectancy and avoiding catastrophic failure to dry transformers, generators, switchgears, high voltage connectors and other parts.
Our fiber optic sensors can not only be built into equipment at the manufacturing stage, but can also be put into existing generators. They are a very efficient way to measure the temperature within key components within the power industry. We have implemented our fiber optic temperature sensor systems, in power plants, dams and substations in countries around the world, including China and Indonesia.
